The ANBU, loosely translating to "dark side" is actually short for Ansatsu Senjutsu Tokushu Butai (literally meaning ‘Assassination Tactics Special Military Force’). Usually present in most major countries with a hidden village (although it’s rumored some Daimyo have begun employing their own troops), the ANBU work directly under the leadership of the Kage, serving as his ultimate shield, the protectors of what matters most. This specialized ninja battalion generally tend to work in groups of four to five, although their skills allow them to attempt solo missions with a breeze. They are responsible for assassinations and missions requiring highly trained ninjas. Although most of their armor is very similar in fashion, each village employs their own original masks. Not much is known about the ANBU, speaking volumes of their skills in secrecy.

When one becomes ANBU, they start at Stage 0, which allows them to learn any ‘D’ ranked jutsu. Once all techniques of that rank are learned, one is eligible to attain the next stage. However, before ANY rank up, your Kage must first approve your advancement. This process repeats itself for reach rank, until mastery is achieved. Please pay attention to the limits on the jutsu to know what stage the user is required in order to be able to learn it.
Restrictions: In order to become an ANBU member, one must be at least of the Jounin rank. Also, this position requires Kage approval. They may simply promote you or issue a test first, but ultimately, it's up to his discretion to promote people to this position.

Kanashibari no Jutsu (Body Paralysis Technique) Rank: C Skill: Ninjutsu Handseals: 1 Chakra Consumption: Low Description: A fundamental jutsu taught to the ANBU/Hunter Nin (it is rare for a member of ANBU to not have this technique,) Kanashibari causes the target to become paralyzed through various different means. Depending on the tools the ANBU has at his disposition, and how ample his knowledge of the human anatomy is, they can paralyze through better, faster, ways. This effect only works on opponents of equal rank or lower, and the duration is dependant on both the user and the opponent. The duration of this technique when the user is one rank above their victim is three (3) posts. Against one of the same rank , it lasts only one (1) post. When the user is two (2) ranks above the victim, this will last four (4) posts. When the user is three (3) ranks above the victim, this will last five (5) posts. It is important to know that if the target is damaged physically, the technique immediately ends. While this is most often used as a capture technique, it has medical uses as well. Medical Nin using Kanashibari for the purposes of field surgery are not limited by a number of posts, assuming the target is either unconscious or willing to be put under the technique. Effect: Through the use of a simple handseal, the ANBU targets specific areas of the body and strikes them with their own invisible chakra, an attack carrying extreme accuracy, granting them the ability to inflict temporary paralysis over their victim. These strikes can be anywhere in the body, so as long as the ANBU dispenses them in the areas their knowledge of the human body tells them would leave the victim at its most vulnerable state. If the one this jutsu is cast on gets damaged the jutsu will end. Handseal must be held the entire time, or else the jutsu will break. Requires eye contact.
Hitoku no Bikou (Concealment Act – Shadow Stealth) Rank: C Skill: Ninjutsu Handseals: 2 Chakra Consumption: Low Description: A basic ANBU ninjutsu, this causes the user and the area immediately around them (within three meters) to change in ways that would better aid the user in hiding. For example, in a darkened area the shadows will seem to converge on and around the ANBU, further hiding him from sight. In a forested area, the technique would discolor the user to better blend him in with the surroundings, as well as altering the plants in the area to better shield him. The jutsu works primarily because it is subtle, taking little chakra and having a small localized effect. Even those who could pierce the illusion rarely give it enough notice to do so. The higher the user’s rank, the better the illusion is. Effect: This allows ninjas to follow their targets covertly. Shinobi of a higher rank than that of the caster will have an easier time seeing through the jutsu .
Jigyakkou no Jutsu - Time Regression Technique Rank: B Skill: Ninjutsu Handseals: 1 Chakra Consumption: Mid Description: Jigyakkou no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique used by the ANBU to pull out forgotten memories. After forming the needed hand seals, the ANBU will put the target into a trance. After counting back to the day they wish to learn about, they will ask the target to remember incidents they have since forgotten. This allows the ANBU to gather intel that would other be inaccessible. The target must be restrained or relaxed.
Saiwanami no Jutsu (Restraining Snare Technique) Rank: B Skill: Ninjutsu Handseals: 3 Chakra Consumption: Mid Description: An ANBU jutsu designed to restrain their target, the user's hands come rapidly together, forming three handseals. After that, the user projects a wave of invisible chakra towards the opponent. Upon striking the opponent, the area that has been struck will find that their limbs do not respond well, almost as if they have been restrained and they are fighting against it. Excessive force or counter action could result in extreme bodily harm. Effects: Creates a restraining feeling within the opponent's limbs, reducing the effected area's speed by 25% for three posts. If the victim attempts to break free of the hold through random bursts of energy, they must risk suffering injuries at the discretion of the staff. If the victim is very low on chakra, this will automatically force their hands to buckle behind their back, as if they were being cuffed in the most uncomfortable of ways. Those of a higher rank than the caster are less effected by this technique.
Hozenhada no Jutsu (Body Conservation Technique) Rank: B Skill: Ninjutsu Handseals: 3 Chakra Consumption: Mid Description: After the user has killed a victim, sometimes they are needed to bring a body back for proof of death or preservation of bloodlines, etc. Using this technique, the user will coat a dead body in a shell of chakra that prevents the chemicals within the body from reacting with the air and causing decomposition. This shell will last for a total of three days, thus preventing the beginning of decomposition for three days, which can rapidly increase the amount of time a body has to be identified before it becomes decomposed. Effect: Allows the user to create a shell of chakra around a body that prevents the breaking down of chemicals that decompose a body. This shell lasts only three days, and cannot be placed on a body more than once.
Suro-Juubun (Perfect Throw) Rank: B Skill: Ninjutsu Handseals: 3 Chakra Consumption: Mid Description: Suro-Juubun is a technique that is used when accuracy is a must, and the user doesn't want to even consider the possibility of chance. Using already honed projectile throwing skills, the shinobi will coat the projectile in a coat of chakra as well as coat their hand. When the kunai is thrown, a tiny chakra string, similar to but not nearly as flexible or usable as a puppet string. This gives the thrown projectile a much greater stability as well as the shinobi the ability to, with a very sharp movement, partially change the trajectory of a weapon that is already in flight so that, in case the opponent suddenly moves, the attack may still strike its mark. Effect: Allows the user, with use of chakra, to partially guide a projectile weapon towards the opponent with impressive accuracy at frightening speeds. The guiding sequence of the technique is not perfect, however, and the user becomes only capable of moving the projectile slightly.
Gokan (Great Sense Technique) Rank: B Skill: Ninjutsu Handseals: 3 Chakra Consumption: Mid - High Description: Using an object owned by the target as a medium for this excellent tracking Ninjutsu, the user will perform the required handseals, ending and holding the last handseal in a location that the target was last known to be in. The user will gain a feeling of insight, generally felt as a nudge in a certain direction, as to which way the target moved from that position. As long as the user holds said handseal, they are capable of tracking down the opponent through 'feeling'. Only works if the target is still within the same country. Effect: Once the user acquires something that once belonged to the target and the target's last known location, they are able to gain a sense of direction towards where the target has moved to. Requires that the user have an object that once belonged to the target, and was touched by the target’s hand at least once. Can only be used three times in one thread or three times every 20 posts.
Mukuro (Corpse Disposal) Rank: B Skill: Ninjutsu Handseals: 3 Chakra Consumption: Mid Description: Once the proper handseals are formed, a white flame is created in a small meter radius around the target, rising up to in a swift wave until the corpse is covered. Everything in that circle is completely gone up in smoke soon after, dissolved quickly under the extreme ninjutsu burn. Once all is complete, not trace of the process is left, as the ninjutsu disintegrates only bodies. Effect: Burns a body in two posts. Anything that can trace chakra residue will sense the stains left behind by the disposal.
Kyoki - Enma (Weeping Dome of Darkness) Rank: A Skill: Ninjutsu Handseals: 10 Chakra Consumption: High Description: Once the long string of handseals is completed, a dark cloud seems to seep out the person's body as they perform the jutsu. As a result of this technique, anyone around them in a fifty (50) meter radius sees darkness consume them as a large, black dome anchored to the ground with ten rings surrounding them. Anyone within said dome loses the ability to sense anything around them. All sight is black and white, and everything around them a mere black void. The only sense they retain is that of touch, making it nearly impossible for anyone to fight given they are unable to see, hear, smell, or for a odd reason taste anything that is around them. They can only feel… Effect: Creates a dome of darkness that leaves the opponent temporarily unable to use their senses. This lasts for five turns unless countered or defeated, and covers a fifty meter area.
Doku Temukau (Poison Resistance) Rank: A Skill: Ninjutsu Handseals: - Chakra Consumption: Medium Description: Part of their training has ANBU members purposely exposed to numerous poisons so that their bodies can grow accustomed to its effects. With this jutsu, the ANBU shall neutralize the poison and stop it from spreading into the bloodstream and effecting them. Effect: Nullifies a single poison effect currently affecting the user on the following turn for rest of battle. Said poison cannot hurt the ANBU for the rest of the battle. Needs to suffer poison's effect for one turn before being immune
Nezumitori Kiken (Hazardous Capture Technique) Rank: A Skill: Ninjutsu Handseals: 6 Chakra Consumption: High Description: A very handy restraining technique, the shinobi first performs the required handseals, and once complete, creates a rope of chakra whose length can be altered on a whim. This rope is then launched towards the opponent quickly, either by the caster’s throw or even with the rope sliding across the ground at high speeds like a snal until it reaches its target, giving them little reaction time. As the rope strikes the opponent, it quickly encircles either their legs or arms in order to prevent movement, amd tightens itself around them until no more movement can be afforded. The rope has the strength of tempered steel, and can glow any color the user wishes it to be, making it very difficult to escape from. Effect: Creates a small rope of chakra that is used to quickly bind either the opponent's legs or arms. The rope is made out of chakra, meaning that it is capable of being destroyed by things that drain chakra. Can only resist three turns of constant absorption before it dissipates.
Kushi Akki (Devil’s Acid) Rank: S Skill: Ninjutsu Handseals:10 Chakra Consumption: Mid - High Description: After performing the required handseals, the user will then remain motionless and gather chakra for three turns. Upon the completion of the third turn, the chakra will be released into the atmosphere directly around them, attempting to attach itself to anything solid within a ten meter radius around the user. Once latched on, it will begin breaking down the substance until it was nothing, almost like an acid. This ‘chakra acid’ effect is extremely powerful, capable of cutting through wood in one turn, stone in two, iron in three, and even diamond in four. This attack will continue until the user releases the last handseal, and drains a "B" Rank amount of chakra per turn that the seal is held to continue the technique. Effect: Attacks everything that is solid around the user, breaking it down into nothing in a short amount of time. If the technique encounters a foreign chakra, it will attempt to battle it. If the chakra it encounters is at or above "A" Rank, then this attack will do nothing. The user must charge for the attack for three turns, meaning it is impractical to use in battle.
Assatsu Shimeru (Death Constrict Technique) Rank: S Skill: Ninjutsu Handseals: 10 Chakra Consumption: Mid – High Description: After performing the necessary handseals, the user concentrates a small stream of chakra into the victim’s throat and lungs, allowing the foreign chakra to take hold of everything respiratory within the victim, making them choke on something that can't be extracted or stopped physically. While a smart victim could react by attempting to remove the foreign chakra with surges of their own, the task is rather difficult and requires extreme concentration. The user constantly combats the victim’s own chakra until the victim finally dies, making their demise appear to be due to having choked on their own tongue. Effect: While casting this, the user is open to attack, as the last handseal in the sequence must be held during the choking. It is recommended to be hidden and out of combat while performing the jutsu. Cannot be used from more than thirty meters. The user must concentrate completely to sustain the attack while it combats the victim's own chakra, making it very difficult to sustain for until the opponent suffocates. Also, the user must somehow be able to see the opponent. From victims of equal rank or lower, this will take only a full post to finish. Each rank the victim is above the caster gives them one extra rank to try and fight the choking. Extreme surges of chakra such as gates or bijuu increase the chance of escaping this.
