Onihayashi, the Demon Forest which is off limits to all who live in, and are visitng Mizu No kuni. Banned for being considered too dangerous, these woods hidden within the mist have taken many lives...
Entering the forest would prove nothing, as there are no real signs of the change in entering the demonic grounds. The only way one may tell if they have entered, is once they are deep enough within the mist will begin to have a green tint. The forest will be more full of life and color than that of the real forest. There is also signs that note the entrance and the banning of anyone entering the forest. The past Mizukages had signs and a fence all the way around the section of the forest which they believed were a part of the demonic grounds.
After the Third Shinobi War, the fences were completely destroyed along with all other markings. Now all that is known are the locations of the entrance, and the infamous exit. It is said through history none have made it to the exit alive. Those who enter are said to be found dead at the exit, if they are found at all.
The story behind the forest, is that a circus family, masters of genjutsu, once traveled to Mizu No Kuni. They were horribly mistreated, considered outcasts and not welcome. After being repeatedly robbed, assaulted, and worse, they decided they would put on their largest and best performance yet. Their plans, however, went horribly wrong. A riot broke out mid performance, in which a massive fire broke out and began burning down the tent. The family was once again assaulted and left to die in the flames as everyone else ran for their lives. It was said they died in the flames, though previous Mizukages and the Elders believe different.
Now the forest, which was ever so quiet in it's time. Is now believed to be inhabited by the family of circus performers... or at least what was left of them.
It is said that once you enter, even if you manage to get to what you think might be the outer rim, the lands begin to expand that much farther. It is believed when a powerful enough shinobi enters the grounds, the souls of the family will come out and face the nin themselves instead of just using their genjutsu on them.
This has yet to be tested, at least, none have survived to bring back the results...
